City Maps
The City uses “GIS” technology to bring you accurate, up-to-date City maps.
Requirements
To use our free map viewing service:
1. you must be running Windows.
2. you must download our free MapGuide viewing software
(click here to obtain your free copy).
3. you must use Internet Explorer.
Did you know?
This service has been available on the City’s web site since July 2001 and was enhanced on January 1st, 2007 with the following features.
- view the Current City Map (with parcels showing legal survey lots).
- view a key map of the area.
- search for a civic address, legal land description, and municipal tax roll number.
- Obtain reports showing property and utility information.
- obtain mailing labels for selected civic addresses, for bulk mailouts.
- view digital orthophotos.
- view building footprints.
- locate or view municipal utilities (water lines, water hydrants, water valves, sanitary sewer lines, sanitary sewer manholes, storm sewer line and storm sewer manholes) with as-built offset information, and pipe attribute information.
- obtain utility reports from as-built information (manhole inverts, elevations, etc.)
- check on zoning thematic layers.
- see the property assessment thematic layer.
- locate and view local points of interest (City facilities, schools, churches, hospital, tourist information, museums, fire halls, police stations, campground, etc.)
- measure the distance between any two points
- view 1.0m contours with 0.5m intervals, with elevation data, boundaries of neighbourhoods; tentative legal surveys, and more.
The MapGuide viewing software is a City of Grande Prairie product. It is free for public use. We hope you enjoy using it.

Some technical details
This site uses Autodesk Mapguide Web-Based Technology. The MapGuide viewer was developed by the City of Grande Prairie GIS Department.
The map viewer is optimized to run using your full screen, at a minimum 800x600 resolution, using Internet Explorer Versions 5.5 and all versions of 6. It has not yet been tested with Version 7.
